Thank you to all alumni who took time out of their busy schedules to visit with us last night at our first class event for the year! Since we are such a lively bunch, we will have to go to a less subdued establishment. LOL Again thank you for your time and your input. Our reunion will be a success because of you!!!

Is There a Good Excuse NOT to Attend Your Reunion?

If you are not coming to the reunion, you need a good excuse and a note from your Mom. The following reasons have been tried and are unacceptable.

Excuse #1: I'm overweight.
Rebuttal: You're not alone. Note t-shirt sizes being offered.

Excuse #2: I'm a different person than I was in high school
Rebuttal: Lucky for you, we ALL are. Let's face it: we could only have improved.

Excuse #3 I don't look as good as I'd like. I (choose one or more) am bald, have wrinkles, saddlebags, grey hair and no one will recognize me.
Rebuttal: Guess what! You won't recognize anyone else, either. Using the reunion committee as a representative sample, our whole class looks like a "before" photo in a plastic surgery ad.

Excuse #4: I'm not successful. I'm not (choose one or more) a lawyer, a doctor or rich.
Rebuttal: You'll be pleasantly surprised to find how much everyone has matured. We may be plump and wrinkled (see Excuse #3, above) but we're not stupid. Money is not success.

Excuse #5: I was not in a popular clique in school.
Rebuttal: Now that we're old and smart, those cliques have dissolved just like the superficialities they were based on. The only cliques you'll notice at the reunion will be the sound of your joints as you walk around.

Don't Want to Be a Bother!

We have been trying to contact as many alumni members as possible, and a few have expressed that they are not interested. This is totally fine and we do not wish to be a nuisance to anyone.

If you wish to discontinue emails from us, please let us know. Thank you!!!

ReCreating Graduation Day!

After looking over our graduation class roster and recalling some conversations with some alumni members, I realized that we had some classmates that weren't able to "walk" with us graduation day due to the LEAP test. Most of them share the same sentiment, IF THEY COULD LIVE ONE DAY OVER, IT WOULD BE GRADUATION DAY, SO THEY CAN WALK WITH THEIR CLASS.

With that being said, I've researched "ReCreated or Mock Graduations." We can actually recreate our graduation day for those who weren't able to participate those years ago. If we are really creative, we can attain most of the original speakers and faculty presenters from that life-changing day in 1992.

Finally, those classmates of 20 years ago will be able to take their "walk" to get their diplomas!!! What do you think?

Top 10 Reasons Not To Miss Your High School Reunion

1. You’ll laugh, cry and reminisce with some of your oldest friends.

2. You don’t have to lie about your age.

3. Feel better realizing you are not the only one who has been married, divorced, married, divorced and is still looking.

4. Of the many alumni coming to their first reunion, make them feel fully appreciated for finally showing up.

5. Rekindle or begin new relationships.

6. Even if you had some negative experiences in high school, don’t fret about it, you’ll most likely laugh about it now.

7. Enjoy an evening out without the kids or grandkids, as the case may be.

8. Use the reunion as an opportunity to diet and shape up.

9. Humor the committee; they usually are a bunch of deluded diehards who think everyone should show up to appreciate all their efforts.

10. Finally, studies have shown that those who were initially hesitant about attending their reunions discover it was the event they wouldn’t have missed!

RSVP - Why Is it Important?

What Does RSVP mean?

The term RSVP comes from the French expression "répondez s'il vous plaît", meaning "please respond". If RSVP is written on an invitation it means the invited guest must tell the host whether or not they plan to attend the party. It does not mean to respond only if you're coming, and it does not mean respond only if you're not coming (the expression "regrets only" is reserved for that instance). It means the host needs a definite head count for the planned event, and needs it by the date specified on the invitation.

Why It's Inconsiderate to Not RSVP

An incomplete list of respondents can cause numerous problems for a host including difficulty in planning food quantities, issues relating to minimum guarantees with catering halls, uncertainty over the number of party favors and difficulties in planning appropriate seating, among other things.

So the next time you see RSVP on an invitation you receive, please call your host and respond promptly.

Tour of DHS

While I was in town, I decided to visit our old Alma mater. The changes are wonderful and a feast for the eyes. Just like us, DHS has gotten better with time!

Leave All Animosity Behind...

I found this online and thought this was very interesting.

Don't base your impressions of reunions on your 10th because you really haven't had time to grow as a person yet.

The 20th reunion is much better because you have grown and are comfortable with who you are. You find out that those snotty cheerleaders and jocks were not really snotty but incredibly shy confused teenagers. The ones that were wallflowers in HS have now blossomed into fascinating people.

Never hold grudges on what someone might have said to you or did something to you in school. It was the frame of mind of the adolescent who said the words and you too took the meaning of what was said with a child's mind.

This Is YOUR Reunion!

This is YOUR reunion and it will not be a success without your input. Keep in mind, that finances is the number one issue, so be mindful. To ensure 100% participation, we need to be creative, cooperative and cost conscious. The success of our reunion rests in your hands!
